Hey Cookie! Yup, had another one Sunday by my notes. Funny how it seems to fade. Sunday just lazed around again, visited the beach and ate leftovers.
A few beers were consumed and all was right with our world!

Enjoyng this report, thanks Deb. Seems you're up to Friday 11/9 (oops 11/11) I was writing at the same time as you) with a lot of Eleuthera time to share with us - you had two whole weeks. That's how I wish we could have done it this year! Looking forward to reading more about your trip. The home day was not a boring installment, it was real. A day without an objective - and happenstance dolphin sighting - nice!

Monday: Today was Lighthouse Beach Day! Headed straight there, the road was expected. Just went slowish and all was fine. Parked and walked around a bit shell hunting then someone else drove up in a truck. Well, it happened to be Donald and his lovely daughter with a couple off of a Princess Cruise Ship. Had introductions, a really nice chat with all and I have to say. Donald is a truly nice man, felt like we already knew him. So engaging & his daughter is just like him, we talked for a bit and left them so as not to intrude. Went up the path to the beach and it was just beautiful. So peaceful, nobody else there, just the way it should be. (Gotta say though, on the way there we could see that a ship was in at Princess Cay and we were a bit doubtful at what we would find.) It was very strange seeing this huge ship, had never seen this before, maybe we just got lucky the previous times. Lots of "seaweed" on the beach which to me is just nature but, hadn't ever seen so much. Just strolled around, and so hoped it would stay the same. Kinda bittersweet but, really glad we made the trip. Walked back chatted with Donald just a few minutes and left. We then went to the Princess Cruise site and checked out the vendor area. Not a lot going on, some cruise passengers milling around, didn't look like much buying going on. After this went to Cotton Bay and checked this out. More seaweed and a lot of building going on, was an enlightening stop. After this we headed back, stopped at Fishbones as burgers were wanted. They were OK but, found out Dr. Seabreeze was playing later. Took food home, ate and went back to enjoy the Dr. He was in great form and really enjoyed the evening. Gotta mention, also stopped by Cookie, had a great chat with a really great couple. Wish we could have spent some chill time together, maybe next time. Saw the CUTEST POTCAKE puppy just down the road from you Cookie! Mom & Dad were with and they were not having it, lol. Got some precious pics though!

Thanks kathleenl, yes 2 weeks, just makes so much more sense with the price of airfare to us. The bonus of two weeks is justified, lol.
Love the "home" days, and yes, the dolphins were a first for us after 10 years of visiting. Just a win!

Tuesday: This day was out and about. Cleaning lady (T) was coming so perfect. Talked to our homeowner (Keith) Love this man, wealth of knowledge and just a sweetheart! I think we were gone by about 9/10 AM. Dropped by Island Farm to leave bottles (beer) they reuse to make sauces. We rinse well (please do this) and love the recycling aspect of this. Went in to GHB for things and stopped at Ronnie's and had a chat with Dr. Seabreeze, hugs and kisses were had as it was his Birthday! Nice to see so many wanting to talk with him and give b-day wishes, there was a line. Headed back towards Savannah Sound with stops at Double Bay access where we had a nice beach walk but a lot of seaweed here also. Skipped over to Ten Bay and checked the area out. (Bret, your house looked lonely but, fine). New house (to us) that really cuts access to Kemp's Creek that we hadn't seen before. Camera's on poles and all that, not sure how I feel about it or if it is even any of my business. Anyway, it was a beautiful drive and happy we did it. Now, the MOST exciting thing for me. Queen of Tart's was finally open today. Got our foodie going on, ordered Cracked Conch/Lobster & Grouper dinners. Oh, my I just love her food. Coma ensued and all was well in Savannah Sound.

Wednesday: Went to Airport Beach area and just drove around seeing the changes in the area. Lots of lots for sale. This is the day we decided to stop at Mark's Burgers and so glad we did. First visit. Had a few beers, chatted with a few different groups of people and had a really great time. Mark was very welcoming, chatty and a great host. Had leftovers back at home (my favorite), no cooking for this girl!
Thursday was a lounge day so, nothing to see here folks :-).

Friday: This day started with a drive to GHB for breakfast at Da Perk. Ordered breakfast bagels, I got the Smoked Salmon and it was VERY tasty. He got something else, no clue, didn't care, mine was all I cared about. Lol, he said his was good also. Watched the DOLPNINS feeding in the harbor (YAY) while we waited for our order and chatted with visitors. Also visited PP beach and did a drive around there while trying to dodge rain showers/squalls. Again, lots of seaweed but also cleaned/scarfed some really nice rope/line off the beach.
Visited my/our Bizzy pup at Double Bay and had a wonderful time with his Dad & Mom. This actually made this day for me, my happiness is due to this wonderful couple. (They know who they are and Thank You from the top and bottom of my heart)! You have no idea how precious you are to me and without getting totally sappy, I LOVE YOU to the ends of this earth. OK, that was really sappy but, I think you get it. XXXOOO

Oh, also went to Shell Beach this day, (Friday) (from Bret's book) yeah, we were all over like, well you know. Also stopped at Queen of Tarts for burgers, they hit the spot and were great. Lettuce, tomato, fried onions and her special sauce. I highly recommend, delicious!

Saturday: Decided to go to Red Pond. I'm really sad about this, it looked like hell. Just so different from what I'd seen before.
It's been so mined of sand (best way I can put it) the whole area looks trashed. Lot's of noseeums, and there was a good breeze, had to leave.
It used to be a beautiful/natural place but, it's all changed now sadly. At least to me, just my opinion. Someone was getting hungry so we headed to Mark's
again. Yes, we do like to drive around :-). Had another great time here, got a burger and I only had a few bites and it was hands down The Best Burger!
Exceptional beef flavor and needed nothing added to it. Mark was again welcoming and the perfect host. Went for one last goodbye to the pup as our time was
coming to an end and really wanted to say "see you soon". Thank You again! XXXOOO

Oh no! Half Sound? I've never seen anyone mining sand there. Do you remember which part - north-ish, south-ish, west-ish? Mr. Cookie was there late in October, or maybe early November. I don't recall him mentioning any new activity. I'll ask him and get back to you. You know Eleuthera so well, but is there any chance you were at Red Pond? That has been absolutely wrecked by sand removal. I'm gonna be so bummed out if Half Sound's peaceful beauty has also been compromised!
Great trip report Deb. Thanks for taking the time to write it. It was fun to meet you!

Cookie, Yes, you are right and I corrected that, my mistake. Thank You for keeping me accountable, I really love that!
I do hope some people are enjoying this, it is probably a bit boring.
I/we really enjoyed meeting you and Mr. Cookie, lol, Mr. Cookie.

Phew. Glad it wasn't Half Sound, but sad that Red Pond is still such a mess. Yes, Mr. Cookie - LOL - I always get a kick writing that. I thought of it after Potcake (Grant) posted about Mrs. Potcake... Mrs. Potcake does post on that other forum (as Elaine), but Mr. Cookie prefers to remain silent and invisible. Cheers!

Half Sound is just fine. Spent many hours over several days there on my last visit in September. Red Pond, on the other hand, was under construction. They've closed off the pond and are dredging sand. It looks like they've got several projects going on, but the main one that I saw was just north of the sand wall and closer to White Road Beach. Looked like clearing for house lots although the sip sip is that a small resort is going to be built at Red Pond and that's why they closed off the pond. When I get some time I'll post a drone video I took of the area. Attaching one photo for now. Also, piece of info that you'll only find on this forum and on this thread. When The Snorkel Book comes out the #1 ocean snorkel site is almost surely going to be The Pointe at Half Sound. It ain't easy to get there. It's even harder to get back, but if you want a good (by my standards) ocean snorkel, that's the spot. By far the healthiest reef in Eleuthera that is reachable by land. Do NOT attempt to drive to this beach without a 4WD vehicle and I don't mean a vehicle that just has good ground clearance. You need a vehicle that can drive up a sand embankment. Loving the report Deb. What may sound boring to you are gold nuggets of Eleuthera to us! I don't want you to go home from there. Keep writing!! Never Miss a Beach! Attachments:
