Thanks for the TR Deb! I've been wondering how your trip went. Sounds like you're "home" when you're there!

Thanks guys, Bret, my sweet DH & Mrs. DH and our boy Bizzy, and djd > love you gal. Can't forget Cookie & Mr. Cookie, Hey guys!
The next couple of days (we left Tuesday) were about cleaning stuff up. Clothes, the rental (I'm anal, lol.) Yup, I hate that too but, it has to be done.
We spent as much time at our cottage as possible. Walked the beach, smelled the smells, basically eye candy. But,you know, sometimes you just gotta get out
when you know your time is so short. So we also did a bit of close driving around. Nothing in particular, just knowing it's going to end and not wanting it to.
Ate food up as we knew we weren't going to get that again for awhile. Sat in the sweet screened porch and soaked up the view. So bittersweet, hard to explain
unless you feel "home" and know it really isn't and you have to leave. I don't cry when I leave as much as I want to, I'm just so happy that I can be there
for two weeks out of a year that gets shorter as I age. Time just seems to fly.
I am so Thankful for all of you, I feel blessed for my time here on Eleuthera. No, I'm not a holy roller or anything like that. I just feel blessed.
I am thankful for all the wonderful people I have met. Wayne & Dianne, (my first real introduction to (potcakes) and my first loving man for them. "Keith" & Sharon, the gardening rock stars
on the "Rock" and the best hosts. And my Dear Sweet DH & Mrs. DH for being the best ever hosts & lifesavers for our/your boy, I Love You both! Just ask, they have a sweet rental also. My BEST VISIT this time, actually twice (sorry!) best ever, damn it, I Just LOVE YOU BOTH!
We did a lot more than this, same stuff all of you do. But now maybe we just roll a bit different after 10 years. I guess that has to say something. Has it changed?
Yup, but, it's still so my happy place. We will be back of course, it's home, there is nothing sweeter to me. Except maybe meeting Bret next time. LOL, Bret.
Anybody have any questions? I'll do my best to answer. Things can change day by day, you have to be as special as the island is, then you will be all right.
Love you all & hope you all had Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, New Years and all the other Holidays during this time of the year. Love y'all! Deb

Bret,
I've driven most of the way out on Joseph's Cay (The Pointe) per a recommendation from Chef David about 10 years ago. Definitely jungle-like out there. Do you think it's doable to snorkel across the bay opening rather than drive. Chef said he spearfished a lot in there (Half Sound) and mentioned the sharks like to "fish" there as well. I mainly go there for bonefishing.
Thanks, Marty

Marty,
It really depends on the current. I once took my boat into Half Sound and then tried to snorkel through the channel going towards the ocean. The current was ripping. I had to go perpendicular to avoid getting blown out to sea. This last time I was on the ocean side. The current was running in. When I started to get sucked in I quickly turned around. So, I think it can be done, one way or another, but both times I was solo and I get more cautious when I don't have an emergency exit or some type of human support.
Ol' Don Goldsberry used to tell me the channel was sharkie, too. He advised me to run the boat through the channel a couple of times to clear it of sharks. I've never seen a shark there, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. Lots of huge sea fans and Queen Conch in the channel.
Never Miss a Beach!
