I'm used to clearing immigration & customs in Nassau... wondering if someone can give me a description of what to expect at ELH. Flying Delta through ATL, if that matters...

It's not much different except you don't have to try to skirt around the long line of folks entering Nassau to find the Family Islands line. It always appears more chaotic at ELH, but that's only because it's a small area with one person handling immigration and no more than one or two handling customs. They normally check all bags where in Nassau you often just get waved through after being asked where you are going and how long you are staying. In Nassau they are screening you to see if you have three bags for a two night stay. In Eleuthera they are screening you to see how much stuff you are trying to bring in without paying VAT. In terms of the amount of time, it just depends on how many people are on your flight. Those Delta planes are bigger and hold more passengers so expect it to take longer especially if you are at the back of the plane. I've found it to take between 15 and 30 mins to get through both lines, a little longer if there are more passengers with a lot of bags to check. Never Miss a Beach!
