It wasn't just my first taste of conch, it's also my take on escargots. I like a number of mollusks (bivalves) but the gastropods, to me, always have an overwhelming ammonia taste/smell. Anyone else? I'm not complaining at all, just curious.

Sorry, although this sounds familiar, I've never experienced it. Could it be an allergy of sorts?

I don't think it's an allergy. I've not experienced any stomach upset, hives, headaches or any other complaints. I just don't like the taste and in both cases (conch and escargot) the ammonia thing is easy for me pinpoint. To each their own. Like I wrote, I was just curious if anyone else had the same experience.
