Was notified today that our layover is 6 hours, mostly in the morning. We're looking for a place to have a leisurely Saturday breakfast overlooking the water and maybe take a stroll. No need to change clothes/swimwear. We're not trying to shoe horn in more vacation and we don't want to be rushed. Just trying to make a travel day more pleasant. I recall reading a few things but can't find the info on the inter webby. First trip to the Bahamas, would appreciate suggestions.

I'm a big fan of Compass Pointe. Right on the water, very relaxed, they'll hold your luggage for you, and they have an excellent brunch/breakfast. It's a bit pricey, but a nice experience. I go there every time I have enough of a stopover.
Never Miss a Beach!

Go visit Ardastra Gardens & Zoo, feed the Lory parrots, march with the fillamingoes, pet an Iguana. Have a bowl of sheep tongue souse along the way (ask your cabbie)

Thank you both for these appealing options. I see that NAS has luggage storage which I presume we will need if we opt to visit the zoo, but I didn't see a link for details, such as cost. If you have that info, great, if not, we'll wing it!

We got bumped to a later flight from GHB and after the bag check line at NAS, we only had time for a good meal OR the zoo. We were really hungry so we opted for the ease of Compass Point. My husband had the Bahamian corned beef dish and I had grouper in dark roux. Both with grits. Both absolutely delish! I did tell a family group with a little one in tow about the zoo.
Compass Point held our bags during a very short beach walk, no fee for bag hold, no fee for beach walk. If you eat a meal there you get 50% off the $20 day pass for use of pool and loungers.
At the airport we didn't see taxi's but got a black car for $20. To return to NAS Compass Point called a taxi van that was shared with 6 other people at $5 per head.

Compass Point for sure. Watch traffic on that road if you decide to go for a walk. It's like a race track.
